The Plystand acts as a largescale center console that allows owners to store a variety of material ranging from books to records, to soundbars, as needed throughout the shelves. It additionally has a large sliding door that allows owners to either hide certain elements behind it such as a litterbox for a cat or for storage. Alternatively, if they have a larger display element they can leave the larger section of the cabinet open for show and slide the door to the other side of the unit. The angled cut out at the corner articulates the mitered edge featured throughout the project while also creating an ergonomic grip for users to slide the unit open.

The sliding door of this furniture piece required an strong sliding door mechanism to hold the weight of the doubly laminated plywood sheets. This was embedded in a routed channel to conceal the track with a notch in the structure to allow the door to slide throughout the unit.
